Difference Between Flute & Chinese
Flute
Lessons
With many
different kinds of flute around the world, it can be confusing
to choose which among them you should study. From the colorful
stores of Asia and Europe to the pragmatic Americas, flutes of
different kinds abound. The most common flutes are those from
China and the Western ones. So what is the difference when you
study them?
Basically,
they are the same because they're all wind instruments. You
need to blow into them to produce the sounds you want. There
are also techniques to be better at them, like studying in a
school or hiring a professional teacher.
The
ordinary flute you see all the time is a flute with holes. You
blow into the embouchure and use fingering system to change the
tune. As a general rule, a flute can play three octaves of
notes. This makes it good to play a wide range of
songs.
The Chinese
boasts of 15 kinds of flutes, yet only a few of these are known
outside of China. The widespread bamboo tree is the main
contributor to flute material. One unique feature of a Chinese
flute is the addition of the resonance
membrane.
The
membrane is put atop one of the holes to get the right
vibration that is needed to create music. Chinese flutes really
vary, with some holes having as few as 6 holes to as many as 11
holes. Holding a Chinese flute, particularly the dizi, is also
more difficult. Among your fingers, only the thumb and the
pinky will have the job of holding the body of the flute. The
rest will be busy fingering the notes.
With
whatever kind of flute, you will have to practice correct
posture and breathing. That way, you'll be able to perform
better and not tire easily. You have to sit or stand up
straight but stay relaxed especially on the arms. And, your
head should never be extremely angled down, nor should it be
held up high. It should just be enough that air can pass
through the air channel.
Chinese
flutes aren't available in every music store, unlike the
ordinary flutes. You might have to go to a store that
specializes in flute or something owned by a
Chinese.
The same
principle applies with learning the flute. If you want to study
a rare flute, without any experience in similar things, then it
can be hard finding a
singapore
flute tutor. The best thing is to learn an
ordinary flute as much as you can. Since you now have the
skill, you can easily study a rarer flute by watching videos or
reading instructions.
Learning
any type of music requires one important trait: hardworking. In
order to master the flute, regular
beginner flute
lessons would have to be done. What's more is
that it would take months to play it well. Without hard work,
it is easy to be disheartened and get fatigued. So before
starting, it's helpful to know what is needed to be a
great singapore
flute player.
